CAUT Status of Women Committee: Workshop 94' Implementing the Inclusive University A Report by Rashmi Luther On the weekend of September 29, 1994 the Status of Women Committee of CAUT held its annual conference, in Vancouver on the theme of Implementing the Inclusive University. Over 130 representatives from universities across the country explored the three major areas of: * Employment Equity * Educational Equity * Academic Freedom An excellent resource binder was prepared to facilitate dialogue. It is available from CAUT for $50.00. Please contact Collette Deschamps at 820-2270 for more information. The CAUT Status of Women Committee conference coincided with another conference on a similar theme. The Inclusive Curriculum: Setting Our Own Agenda. This conference was a collaboration between Douglas College and University College of the Fraser Valley and focused on the development of curriculum that is more representative and inclusive. While both conferences dealt with important and pressing issues facing post-secondary education the knowledge and experience required to advance this discussion within our respective institutions will need to be collectively shared. The expertise is clearly within our own possession and based in the essentials of commitment, creativity and will. The problem before us is not what to do, but the will to act.
