CUASA WELCOMES JUNE LANDSBURG
June Landsburg will be Acting Business Agent during Pat Finn's sabbatical
(October 1 - March 31). June Landsburg first came to Carleton to the
Instructional Aids Department in 1967. Six years later she became the
first Coordinator of the Office of Instructional Development, several
years later the Director of the Instructional Aids Department and the
Associate Director of the School of Continuing Education. Of many
accomplishments during these years, the founding of Carleton's ITV was
certainly the most notable. In 1975-76 June was the President of the
Carleton University Support Staff Association (CUSSA). That was the year
that saw the support staff association become a union and June was the
chief negotiator for the first support staff collective agreement. In
1981, June moved to Simon Fraser University in Vancouver to be Coordinator
of Educational Telecommunications Projects and, five years later, Director
of the Applied Sciences Program, Continuing Studies at SFU. In this role,
she established several award-winning programs including a contracted
$1,000,000 updating program for telecommunications engineers at BC
Telephone. Retiring from Simon Fraser in 1991, June moved with husband
Don George to Hong Kong where she "kept her hand in" as a consultant for
the SFU Faculty of Business Administration and working with the
university's large group of alumni in Hong Kong.
June will be in every day except Fridays when CUASA President Geza Kardos
will be in the CUASA Office to assist members. The Grievance Chair,
Alistair Tilson, will hold regular hours in the CUASA office on Monday
2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and Wednesday 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
