Members may wish to compare this with the settlements over the last two years at Carleton. 1 MAY 1996 - retroactive PTR payment to all members according to the formula in the c.a. * $2205 for faculty; $1544 for librarians; $1455 for language teachers I-III and $1874 for language teachers IV; $1455 for counselors. 1 NOVEMBER 1996 - retroactive adjustment to scales and individual salaries. * faculty scales: minima end maxima adjusted by 0.5% + $1102, except maximum for full professor which is adjusted by 0.5%. . * other scales: adjusted according to existing formulas for librarians and language teachers, and recently agreed formula for counselors. * individual salaries: increased by 0.5% + lump sum as follows: $1102 for faculty members, $772 for librarians, $727 for language teachers l-III, $937 for language teachers IV, and $727 for counselors. 1 MAY 1997 - retroactive adjustment to scales and individual salaries. * faculty scales: minima and maxima adjusted by 0.5% + $1102, except maximum for full professor which is adjusted by 0.5%. * other scales: adjusted according to existing formulas for librarians and language teachers, and recently agreed formula for counselors. * individual salaries: increased by a lump sum as follows: $1102 for faculty members, $772 for librarians, $727 for language teachers l-III, $937 for language teachers IV, and $727 for counselors. 1 MAY 1997 - retroactive PTR to all members as per c.a. formula and new scales. *$2151 for professors; $1506 for librarians; $1420 for language teachers l-lIl and $1828 for language teachers IV; $1420 for counselors. JULY 1997 (or as soon as possible after ratification) professional expense reimbursement. * all members to receive $300 lump sum as a reimbursement for professional expenses incurred or to be incurred during the period 1 January to 31 December 1997; there is no claims process; rather, the member shall be responsible for retaining receipts and informing the employer by the end of the calendar year if the money has been spent; any unspent portion will be reported on a T4A as a taxable allowance. (The dollar value of the PER to be paid in July 1998 will be determined by negotiations for the next agreement.) 1 NOVEMBER 1997 - adjustment to individual salaries for all members. * 0.5% of the salary in effect on 30 April 1997, subject to the 97-98 maximums. ***** TECHNOLOGY AND HIGHER EDUCATION The National Education Association has published a new book on Technology and Higher Education. This collection of essays, edited by Linda K. Enghagen, covers topics such as using information technology in the classroom setting and copyright law. Included in the book is an essay co-authored by D. Savage from CAUT and CUASA's own P.A.Finn. A copy of the book is available on loan from the CUASA office. ****** RESEARCH STUDY Elaine Correa, a doctoral candidate from McGill University is currently working on research project concerning pay equity for female academics across Canada. She is looking for female faculty who are willing to complete a short survey via email.
