Update for Monday, March 16
Dear CUASA members,
Ottawa Public Health is now advising all people in Ottawa to increase their practices of social distancing, including limiting non-essential trips out of the home and making efforts to maintain a distance of 1 to 2 meters from other people as much as possible. They are asking people to keep their children home from daycare, if possible, and to check with their employers about options for working from home or implementing social distancing at work.
Following this, Carleton has announced it is closing all non-essential services today, and will be determining minimum staffing levels required for continuity of operations beginning March 17 onwards.
CUASA is strongly recommending that all members follow the advice of Ottawa Public Health and try to stay home, if possible. As of Wednesday, you are expected to begin completing your courses through means other than face-to-face, and we strongly encourage you to do this from home.
Based on recent announcements, it is CUASA’s opinion that all service requirements, including departmental and other committees, fall into the non-essential category and all in-person meetings or committee work should be suspended during this time.
CUASA has posed numerous questions to the University. We are currently updating our website to communicate this information to our membership. Our list will focus on issues relevant to CUASA members. Carleton’s FAQ page can be found here. Ottawa Public Health’s can be found here.
