Tenure designates the status of continuous appointment of Faculty and Faculty, Teaching Stream employees. Confirmation designates a form of continuous appointment granted to Professional Librarians employees. Both of these are evaluated according to the procedures described in the Collective Agreement.

Promotion refers to the process of moving through the ranks of academic staff, such as from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor or Librarian II to Librarian III.
