Bargaining News! Friday March 7th, 2025

CUASA and the Employer were back at the bargaining table on March 6th. CUASA tabled multiple non-monetary counter proposals in the hope of coming to agreements on as many items as possible before the first conciliation meetings at the end of March. The Employer also returned with two counter proposals. Some movement is being made on non-monetary and non-workload related issues. This week the Employer came to the table with their monetary package at the end of the bargaining session. CUASA’s Negotiating Team will meet to discuss and prepare counters in advance of our next meeting with the Employer scheduled for March 12. Without an exchange of counters on monetary there very little to report at this time. Thanks to the most recent membership survey and the strike mandate given to us last month CUASA’s Negotiating Team is clear on the priorities of the membership — namely competitive salaries with similar universities, keeping up with inflation, and sustainable workload. We remain determined to negotiate a fair and equitable collective agreement.

The Negotiating Team returns to the bargaining table March 12th and 17th. In addition to the conciliation planned for March 26th and 27th the Employer has agreed to additional conciliation dates on April 8th, April 9th and April 10th. Mediation has been pushed to April 26th and 27th.
