Consultation with CUISIC

At our Council meeting on April 17, CUASA welcomed the co-chairs of the Carleton University Indigenous Strategic Initiatives Committee (CUISIC). CUISIC had asked for an opportunity to meet with CUASA to hear about the committee’s work, and to give the Association a chance to provide feedback. CUASA members wishing to participate are invited to view the consultation presentation and submit feedback directly on the CUISIC website.

Call for Volunteers: Collective Bargaining Committee

We are now just two years away from the expiration of the 2017-2021 collective agreement. With that in mind, we are in the early stages of preparing for the next round of bargaining. The first step in this process is populating the members of the Collective Bargaining Committee, whose term will begin July 1, 2019. The first step in the process will be preparing for the launch of our pre-bargaining survey a year from now, followed by preparation of our bargaining demands. For more information on the CBC, please see Bylaw 7 of the CUASA Constitution and Bylaws. If you are interested in volunteering for the CBC, please email [email protected].

Constitution and Bylaw Review

The CUASA Steering committee will be holding a retreat in May to discuss and work on a number of topics, including a review of the Association’s Constitution and Bylaws. Association members are welcome to provide feedback on the upcoming review. We ask that you please aim to do so by end of day next Tuesday, May 7. You may submit your feedback by emailing [email protected]. The Constitution and Bylaws can be found here.

Support Mike’s Place

Following the recent announcement that Mike’s Place would be temporarily closing for the summer, the GSA Council passed a motion to keep the restaurant open, despite the looming cuts to GSA funding through the provincial government’s “Student Choice Initiative”. We encourage all CUASA members to support Mike’s Place by dropping by for lunch or a beverage whenever possible.
