Bargaining News! October 31, 2024
After several meetings in October between CUASA’s Negotiating Team and the Employer CUASA is pleased to inform members that the parties have agreed to a set of “Collective Bargaining Protocols”. The protocol agreement is a set of guidelines on how bargaining will proceed including how proposals will be presented, responded and agreed to. Our agreement also allows for either party to invite experts to the table to make presentations that aid in contextualizing or clarifying information that might assist in the collective bargaining process. While bargaining protocols are not a formal contract they are meant to be a friendly arrangement that advances bargaining negotiations.
The next meeting with the Employer is set for Monday November 4th. The Employer has invited a speaker to make a presentation on the status of Carleton University’s finances for the first hour of that meeting with a question period to follow. At the November 4th meeting the parties will also exchange a complete list of articles, LOUs and appendices to be opened or proposed during collective bargaining. CUASA further expects to present and begin negotiations on a number of CUASA’s proposals at this meeting.
As the CUASA Negotiating Teams works towards an improved collective bargaining agreement members are encouraged to keep up with bargaining news on the CUASA website and to follow CUASA on X(Twitter) and Facebook.
