This page contains information on the relevant dates and deadlines for processes contained within the 2017-2021 Collective Agreement, including tenure/confirmation and promotion, and achievement awards.  Click on an icon below to view the information for that month.

January 31 – Recommendations for promotion shall be submitted to the Provost as Chair of the University Promotions Committee (Article 10.7.h)

February 1 – University to provide a list of the expected leaves for the upcoming academic year to the Association (Article 22.2.b.vi)

February 1 – University to provide a statement for the previous academic year including information on courses and enrollment (Article 22.2.b.x)

February 20 – Provost notifies each candidate of the tenure decision in writing (Article 10.8.j)

March 1 – Dean to notify any member on a one-year term appointment if the member may apply for reappointment (Article 36.3.a.ii)

March 15 – Peer Evaluation Committee deadline to submit recommendations regarding candidates to be forwarded to the Library Rank Promotion Committee (Article 10.12.b.viii)

April 1 – Dean notifies Instructor employees of decision on promotion (Article 10.13.a.iii)

April 15 – UPC recommends for promotion to Associate or Full Professor (Article 10.8.i.i)

April 15 – Library Rank Promotion Committee recommends promotion of library members to the President (Article 10.12.c.v)

April 30 – Deadline for the Tenure and Promotion Appeals Committee to complete its report on tenure appeals (Article 10.9.i)

May 1 – Provost notifies each faculty candidate of the promotion decision (Article 10.8.i.i)

May 1 – Deadline to request alternative resignation or retirement date of August 31 to the Dean (Article 21.5.a)

May 31 – President recommends to the Board of Governors library promotion candidates (Article 10.12.e)

May 31 – Deadline for the Tenure and Promotion Appeals Committee to complete its report on promotion appeals (Article 10.9.i)

June 1 – Notification of successful candidates for promotion in the library (Article 10.12.f)

June 15 – University Librarian and Deans to notify members of CDI approvals or denials (Article 41.4.a.i)

June 30 – Employer to provide each faculty member with teaching schedule for upcoming academic year (Article 13.2.c)

June 30 – Employer to provide Association with report of full course equivalents taught by contract instructors in previous academic year (Article 26.5.a)

June 30 – Final date of employment in the event of tenure denial (Article 10.8.j.ii)

July 1 – Candidates for promotion to submit names of external referees to the Dean (Article 10.4.a.iv)

August 1 – Final date for notification regarding approval or denial of CDI following meeting with the Dean or University Librarian (Article 40.4.a.ii)

September 15 – Employer to complete annual updates to benefits booklet (Article 40.5.c)

September 15 – Deadline to submit dossier to the Departmental Tenure and Promotions Committee (Article 10.4.a.v, 10.4.b.iii, 10.4.c.iv, 10.4.d.iv)

September 30 – Deadline for nominations for Teaching Achievement Awards (Article 41.3.d)

September 30 – Deadline for nominations for Research Achievement Awards (Article 41.2.d)

September 30 – Departments must establish a Tenure and Promotion Committee (Article 10.6.a)

October 1 – University Librarian notifies librarian members to be automatically considered for promotion of their consideration (Article 10.12.b.i)

October 1 – Peer Evaluation Committee emails members and posts the timetable for librarian promotion proceedings (Article 10.12.b.ii)

October 30 – Senate issues call for nominations for the Tenure and Promotion Appeals Committee (Article 10.9.c)

October 30 – Instructor members wishing to be considered for promotion outside of automatic consideration notify Chair (Article 10.13.b.iii)

October 31 – Departmental Tenure and Promotion Committee makes recommendations on Instructor confirmation (Article 12.3.c.ii)

October 31 – Employees must notify Chair and Dean of intention to take sabbatical in the upcoming academic year (Article 20.1.d)

October 31 – Candidates for the Research Achievement Award and Teaching Achievement Award submit application to Dean (Article 42.2.d, 42.3.d)

November 15 – Dean establishes the Faculty Tenure and Promotion Committee (Article 10.7.a)

November 20 – Recommendations for the Professional Achievement Award are forwarded to the University Librarian (Article 41.4.b.i)

November 20 – Deadline for nominations for Professional Achievement Award for Instructor employees (to Provost’s Office) (Article 41.4.c.iii)

November 30 – Departmental Tenure and Promotion Committee makes recommendations to the Dean (Article 10.6.g)

November 30 – Faculty Tenure and Promotion Committee meets to consider nominees for Research Achievement Awards from that faculty (Article 41.2.e)

December 1 – Tenure and Promotion Appeals Committee established (Article 10.9.c)

December 5 – Faculty Tenure and Promotion Committee forwards short list for Research Achievement Awards to university committee (Article 41.2.e)

December 15 – Dean to notify any member on a two or three year term appointment if the member may apply for reappointment (Article 37.3.a.iii)

December 20 – Recommendations for tenure and for simultaneous tenure and promotion to Associate Professor submitted to Provost (Article 10.7.h.i)

December 21 – University committee to submit its recommendations to the President for Research Achievement Award recipients (Article 41.2.e)

December 21 – University Librarian to report the nominees for Professional Achievement Awards in the Library to the President (Article 41.4.b.iii)
