Protest Tomorrow in Support of Education Workers
CUASA strongly encourages members to support solidarity actions with CUPE Ontario’s 55,000 education workers (Ontario School Board Council of Unions – OSBCU) who are being denied their legal right to strike by the provincial government.
OSBCU workers intend to protest tomorrow, November 4, in defiance of the government’s attempt to override fundamental rights guaranteed under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
The members of OSBCU are the education assistants, school library workers, administrative assistants, custodians and tradespeople, early childhood educators, child and youth workers, instructors, nutrition service workers, school safety monitors, and social workers. On average, these workers earn just $39,000 per year and have been demanding fair wages and increases in hiring to support all students.
CUASA stands in solidarity with OSBCU workers and we encourage our members to join pickets and participate in other solidarity actions tomorrow: https://cupe.on.ca/dontbeabully/
