Update for March 17
This morning, Premier Doug Ford declared a state of emergency in Ontario. This means the closure of restaurants and bars (excluding takeout and delivery), prohibiting gatherings of more than 50 people until March 31. This does not apply to public transit, shopping malls, grocery stores and pharmacies.
Carleton President Bacon has announced the University’s focus remains on keeping required services open while having as many people as possible working from home. He has assured the Carleton community that the University is committed to ensuring no one is financially disadvantaged by the current situation.
President Bacon has also strongly recommended that non-urgent and non-essential meetings or activities be postponed in order to focus on completing the winter term remotely. CUASA stands in complete agreement with the University on this front, and we encourage members to focus on their students and completing their courses successfully.
We will be meeting via teleconference with the University this afternoon to continue discussions on the COVID-19 situation and the completion of the winter term.
The CUASA Steering Committee and Council will also be meeting online this week, as the Association continues online operations and begins to look at the days and weeks ahead.
