CUASA statement of solidarity with Bawaating Water Protectors and their allies

CUASA stands in solidarity with Bawaating Water Protectors and their allies, including Carleton University students who assisted in building a tipi on Parliament Hill, which is in traditional unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishnaaabeg people.

As educators, we believe strongly in the importance of political participation and community engagement. The Carleton students who are involved in protests and ceremonies this weekend are demonstrating the importance of acknowledging our collective history of racism and colonialism, and we stand with them in their efforts.

CUASA calls on the RCMP to allow protesters to remain on Parliament Hill and to rescind immediately any bans against individual participants.
