CUASA Summer Hours
May marks the beginning of summer office hours at CUASA!
May 23 – June 27 Monday – Thursday, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm. Friday, 9:00 am – noon.
July 4 – July 25 Monday – Thursday, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm. Friday, closed.
August 1 – August 29 Monday – Thursday, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm. Friday, 9:00 am – noon.
Statutory Holidays – Office Closed July 1 and August 4.

New Collective Agreement
The 2024-2027 Collective Agreement has been ratified and is in the process of being edited for publication. Look to your email for updates and information sessions to be held in the fall semester. If you have any questions about the new agreement, please contact us at [email protected].
Changes to Health Benefits Plan – Article 38
Employees are eligible for reimbursement and can begin to use the expanded benefits won in the new collective agreement as of the ratification date of May 16, 2025. However, claims cannot be submitted for a few weeks while Canada Life updates their system. CUASA will notify members when the new system is up and running.
Article 38.1
(d) The Extended Health Care Plan shall provide mental health and psychological services by the following providers as deemed qualified by the plan administrator based on provincial accreditation, with 80% reimbursement:
- psychologists;
- social workers;
- psychotherapists, and;
- counsellors.
(e) The Extended Health Care Plan shall provide Gender Affirmation coverage for employees and their dependents up to a lifetime maximum of $15,000 per covered person with 80% reimbursement.
Steering Committee Election Results
The Steering Committee held elections this month and is pleased to welcome new members, starting on the 1st of July 2025, and returning members. Look for executive bios in upcoming Communiqués.

Tenure and Promotion Workshops
Our annual Tenure/Confirmation and Promotion workshops start June 4th! These workshops cover the process for applying for tenure/confirmation and/or promotion, the preparation of dossiers, and the appeals process in the event of a denial, organized around each of the ranks of CUASA members.
The dates and times for this year’s workshops are as follows:
June 3, 10:30-12:00 – Tenure & Promotion to Associate Professor – Registration Link
June 4, 10:30-12:00 – Promotion to Full Professor – Registration Link
June 4, 1:00-2:30 – Tenure & Promotion to Associate Professor – Registration Link
June 5, 10:30-12:00 – Teaching Stream Tenure & Promotion – Registration Link

Member Conduct Policy
CUASA is seeking members to volunteer to be on the roster for the Investigatory or Appeals Councils under the Member Conduct Policy. These Councils work to address allegations of harassment between members and meet as needed.
Members who volunteer will be provided training on how to process and investigate complaints, maintain confidentiality, and ensure procedural fairness during the investigatory and appeals processes.

Canadian Digital Learning Research Association (CDLRA) Survey
The Canadian Digital Learning Research Association (CDLRA) Pan-Canadian Digital Learning Survey Trends survey to identify and examine digital learning trends at publicly funded post-secondary institutions in Canada is now open – responses are being collected until May 30, 2025.
