Faculty Union Solidarity – Time Sensitive
As an act of solidarity, we ask our members consider adding their names to the following petitions today.
Petition to save our programs at Algoma University. OPSEU Algoma University Local 685. Since the Spring 2025 semester, admissions to these five programs were suspended abruptly: Geography, History, Music, Sociology, and Visual Art. Halting these degree programs will adversely affect students already enrolled in these programs, will adversely impact our partnerships within the Indigenous community, will reduce the variety of electives for all students, and will impact other degrees and certificates. We call on Algoma University’s Board of Governors and President and Vice-Chancellor to reverse this decision and to reinstate admissions to these programs. For more information, you can visit our union site.
Letter in Support of AFTA. Atlantic School of Theology Faculty Association. “There is a last minute chance to avoid a strike, as we have a final conciliation date scheduled on Monday, June 30. But we need the help of our colleagues and friends to send a strong, clear message to AST’s administration to enter conciliation with a fair and equitable offer that recognizes the invaluable contributions of ASTFA members and to avert a strike.”
Accommodations
As the summer term is underway, CUASA would like to remind you to check your “accommodations letter” from your Dean, to know when you must request an accommodation for the next academic year.
Some members might be required to submit an updated functional ability form (FAF) to Human Resources.
Please note, Carleton has implemented three new Functional Ability Forms. Please review these forms and ensure you are using the most up to date form when requesting or updating your accommodation needs.
If you require any assistance with your accommodation or have questions and/or concerns, please reach out to CUASA at [email protected].
Update on Pay Increases under new Collective Agreement
CUASA has received confirmation from the Deputy Provost’s Office that pay increases under the new Collective Agreement will be implemented on the mid-July pay (July 14). This will include the across-the-board (ATB) and career development increment (CDI) increases for 2024 and 2025. Members eligible for those increases will receive retroactive payments to May 1, 2024, and May 1, 2025, respectively. Nominal salaries will also be adjusted going forward.
CUASA Celebrates 50 years!
June 18th marked 50 years since CUASA was certified by the Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB) as the bargaining agent of all full-time faculty and professional librarians at Carleton University! Read about CUASA’s longstanding fight for a fair and equitable workplace!
