Retro Pay Under New Collective Agreement

Pay increases under the new Collective Agreement have been implemented and should be reflected on your July 15th paystub.  Amounts include the across-the-board (ATB) and career development increment, (CDI) increases for 2024 and 2025. Members eligible for these increases received retroactive payments to May 1, 2024, and May 1, 2025, respectively. Nominal salaries are also adjusted going forward.

TA Ratios – Correspondence with Deputy Provost Khordoc

CUASA President Dominique Marshall has been in touch with Deputy Provost Khordoc on behalf of our members concerning TA ratios in the upcoming Fall semester. We will keep members informed on any response we receive from the Deputy Provost in future Communiqués.

Equity at Carleton – Correspondence with President Tettey and Provost Rankin

CUASA President Dominique Marshall has been in touch with President Tettey and Provost Rankin regarding equity issues at Carleton raised by our members. You can read the letter here. CUASA is committed to continued work towards a more equitable campus. Please look to future Communiqués for updates.

Meet Your New Officers

Over the Summer, we will introduce the new members of CUASA’s Steering Committee, who began their mandate on July 1, 2025. In this update, we’d like to (re)introduce Anil Varughese who will be serving as CUASA’s Vice President.

Anil is Associate Professor at the School of Public Policy and Administration. One facet of his research focusses on the role of political parties and labor unions in advancing socio-economic equity in the developing world. He has been an engaged member of CUASA, most recently serving a year as the Chair, Grievance Policy & Administration, and on a number of CUASA bodies, such as the CUASA Council, Collective Bargaining Committee, and the Negotiating Team. He is dedicated to ensuring Carleton University remains a fair, welcoming, and caring workplace for all persons.

Parking Petition

CUPE 2424 has launched a petition calling on Carleton University to address the parking rate increases and issues for students and employees. Add your name here.

Ottawa Pride March

CUASA will be marching with the Ottawa and District Labour Council (ODLC) for the 2025 Capital Pride Parade on August 24th! The parade will take place from 1:00 – 4:00 pm, starting at the intersection of Elgin Street & Laurier Street. Please contact [email protected] to RSVP to march with fellow CUASA members! More details regarding when and where to meet will be announced soon.

Labour Day March

CUASA members are urged to join the Ottawa and District Labour Council (ODLC) for a Labour Day March and Picnic – Monday, September 1st, 2025.

The March will leave Ottawa City Hall (Elgin and Lisgar Street) at noon and March to MacNabb Park (Gladstone and Bonson Avenues) for a picnic from 1-4 pm.

This is a free, family friendly event with a barbecue, live music, face painting, a moon bounce and wading pool. The event will take place rain or shine.

The theme this year is: Workers Together: Unions Deliver.

Member Conduct Policy

CUASA is seeking members to volunteer to be on the roster for the Investigatory or Appeals Councils under the Member Conduct Policy. These Councils works to address allegations of harassment between members and meet as needed.

Members who volunteer will be provided training on how to process and investigate complaints, maintain confidentiality, and ensure procedural fairness during the investigatory and appeals processes.

Accommodations

As the fall semester approaches CUASA would like to remind you to check your “accommodations letter” from your Dean, to know when you must request an accommodation for the next academic year.

Some members might be required to submit an updated functional ability form (FAF) to Human Resources.

Please note, Carleton has implemented three new Functional Ability Forms. Please review these forms and ensure you are using the most up to date form when requesting or updating your accommodation needs.
