Tenure and Promotion Workshops

We urge to members applying for tenure or promotion this year to attend our workshops! Workshops cover the process for applying for tenure and/or promotion, the preparation of dossiers, and the appeals process in the event of a denial. For more information please check your email or visit CUASA’s website.

Please Note!

Carleton University is using Interfolio RPT for the Tenure and Promotion process. To help navigate this process, they have created a Tenure and Promotion website.

The deadline for all candidates to submit names and contact information of external referees to the Dean is May 1, 2026 via the web form: Candidate/Academic Head Names and Contact Information for External Referees Form.

All dossiers must be finalized and uploaded by July 1.

Faculty Teaching Stream – Tenure and Promotion 2026-2027 cycle

For this 2026-2027 cycle, only the University Standards for Teaching Stream will be used, given the timeline for the approval of Unit Standards for Teaching Stream.

If applicants have remaining concerns about the meaning of these standards, after they consulted colleagues in their unit, please contact [email protected].

There are two workshops about Tenure and Promotion Faculty, Teaching Stream  being offered this month:

Tenure & Promotion for Teaching Stream Faculty
Friday, April 10, 2:00-4:00pm
Registration Link

Tenure & Promotion for Teaching Stream Faculty
Monday, April 13, 2:00-4:00pm
Registration Link

Under Article 10.3(a) of the Collective Agreement committees developing Unit Standards should represent “all the areas of specialization in the unit” and should include Teaching Stream members on the committee.

If this is not the case in your unit or if you have any other concerns about the process, please write to [email protected]. Unit standards are reviewed and voted on by all faculty members in a unit.

Save the Date – CUASA AGM

Please save the date for our upcoming April General Meeting (AGM), to be held on Wednesday, April 29, from 1:30-3:30pm. The agenda, Zoom link and meeting materials will be released closer to the date.

Achievement Awards

Congratulations 2026 Achievement Award Winners! CUASA’s Bargaining Team is proud to have bargained for the recognition of your work! For more information about these awards check Article 40 of your Collective Agreement.

International SOS Services

Carleton’s Environmental Health and Safety Department of Risk Management has asked CUASA to remind members of the benefits of registering with the Carleton International SOS when travelling abroad.

All Out for OSAP

CUASA was at the “All Out For OSAP” Ottawa Coalition protest at the Ottawa Provincial Courthouse in March. We joined students and colleagues from Ontario colleges, universities, and high schools to call for the reversal of the changes made to OSAP grants and loans by the Provincial Government. Education is a right! We support students in demanding affordable education!

Academic Consideration for Students

Due to ongoing global events some students may be experiencing distress or disruption that is affecting their academic engagement and therefore may request academic consideration. Please look to the Academic Consideration for Students in Medical or Other Extenuating Circumstances Policy for information on self-declaration forms and appropriate academic consideration. More information about the policy is available on the Registrar’s Office website. For guidance on particular concerns, faculty can write to CAUSA at [email protected].
