Weekly Update – May 14

2021 CDI Agreement

CUASA and the University have agreed that, due to the ongoing exceptional circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, all eligible faculty members, instructors and librarians will receive a CDI for the 2020-21 academic year. Accordingly, there will be no CDI assessments this year.

Stay-at-Home Order Extended

Per the University’s message earlier today, the provincial government has extended the stay-at-home order until June 2, 2021. Under the stay-at-home order, Carleton employees (including faculty, course instructors and staff) are only permitted to come to campus to maintain essential operations and perform necessary work – including approved research – that cannot be done remotely.

If you are required to access campus for necessary work that cannot be done remotely, please follow the appropriate building access protocol and complete the mandatory COVID-19 Daily Campus Access and Screening Form each day before coming to campus.

Employee and their family members who need support are encouraged to reach out to the Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) by calling 1-877-725-5676 or through the myfseap.ca portal. These services are free for all Carleton faculty, course instructors and staff and any interactions you have through the EFAP are confidential.

Join the global push to free Cihan Erdal

Join the push to put pressure on the Turkish government to free jailed CUPE 4600 member Cihan Erdal. Cihan has been jailed without cause in Turkey since September 2020, and his trial resumes on May 18.

The LabourStart action reminds the Ankara prosecutor, the Turkish minister of justice and the President of Turkey of their country’s human rights obligations. Sign on and encourage them to release Cihan and let him come home to his life, his work, and his partner in Canada.

Send your message now. Please also share widely in your networks.
