Polls will be held May 16 and 17 from 9:00am-5:00pm in three locations:

  1. Minto CASE (outside the Bell Theatre)
  2. University Centre atrium
  3. Loeb Building (at the base of the ramp from Southam).

Save the Date – Teach-In on Equity

CUASA will be hosting a Teach-In on Equity on Tuesday, May 15 from 12:00pm-2:00pm. Snack and refreshments will be provided. Full details to follow. Mark the date on your calendar.

Bargaining Information Session

We will be holding our second Bargaining Information Session on Wednesday, May 16, from 10:00am to 12:00pm in 360 Tory Building. Your Negotiation Team will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about bargaining or the strike vote.

CUASA and CU Agree to Mediation

Following CUASA’s formal proposal on Wednesday, May 9, your union and the Employer have agreed to mediation. Arbitrator William Kaplan will act as mediator beginning Saturday, May 26. Now that the parties have agreed to mediation, the Employer’s previous request for conciliation has been cancelled.

Personal Contact Information Form

If you have not already, please fill out the Personal Contact Information Form. CUASA needs to be prepared for all possible circumstances going forward. Should we no longer find it possible to communicate with its members using the employer’s email system, it is necessary that we have alternate means of communication. You can access the form here.

Women of Biology

The Women of Biology have issued a letter to CUASA Council supporting your Negotiation Team’s fight for pay equity at Carleton. In the letter, the women say they are dismayed to learn that women in the Faculty of Science earn nearly $6,000 less than their male counterparts. They urge CUASA to make the issue of salary inequity a top priority in negotiations. Read the full letter here.

You can read CUASA President Dr. Root Gorelick’s analysis on gender pay inequality here.

Thanks to CUPE 2424 and CUPE 4600

CUASA would like to thank both CUPE 2424 and CUPE 4600 for their messages of solidarity in the last week. We appreciate your support!
